5 Things We Love About Autumn at Adapt Uxbridge
As we move into autumn following a busy summer, it is now the perfect time to settle back into a productive routine.
At Adapt Uxbridge, autumn also brings plenty of opportunities to make the most of your surroundings. Whether you are a freelancer looking for a change of scene, a growing SME or part of a larger team, there is plenty to discover both on campus and around Uxbridge.

From lunchtime walks and sport to community breakfasts, historic attractions and cosy places to eat after work, here are five things we love about autumn at Adapt Uxbridge.
1. Get Active
One of the best things about working at ARC Uxbridge is having so much green space and so many sporting facilities right on your doorstep. The campus is surrounded by extensive parkland, with paths, pitches, courts and riverside spaces providing plenty of ways to get outside during the working day.
For members who like to get together, our on-site facilities include a 3G five-a-side football pitch, netball and basketball facilities and space for other outdoor activities. It makes it easy to organise something with colleagues, whether that is a regular team game or simply an informal activity to break up the working week.
If running is more your thing, autumn is a particularly good time to join a run club at Adapt. Cooler temperatures and changing scenery can make getting out at lunchtime or after work feel much more appealing than during the height of summer!
Not quite ready to commit to a full fitness session? There are plenty of alternative options. Grab a coffee from the Clubhouse and head outside for a 20 minute walk around the campus. The Sands River and Grand Union Canal provide a calming backdrop, while our green spaces offer a welcome change of scenery from your screen. The Clubhouse also provides a social hub with a café, restaurant, meeting spaces and a studio for fitness classes, whether you prefer stretching, yoga or mobility sessions – perfect for those who wish to stay active without turning their lunch break into a high-intensity workout.

2. Explore Local Parks
Autumn is one of the best seasons for exploring the parks around Uxbridge. With colourful trees and fewer summer crowds, even a short walk can provide much-needed respite between meetings.
Fassnidge Park is a particularly convenient option. Situated in the heart of Uxbridge, it is roughly a 15 – 20-minute walk from Adapt, making it a practical choice for a longer lunch break or a change of scenery. The park also features tennis courts, a bowling green, outdoor gym equipment, a ball court, a skate park, a playground and the Rusty Bike Café where you can grab a quick bite.
For members who prefer a simple stroll, the mature trees and landscaped areas make Fassnidge particularly appealing as the leaves begin to turn. It is also close to the town centre, so you can easily combine a walk with a coffee, lunch or a few errands.
For a longer outdoor break, Hillingdon Court Park is home to formal gardens, a bowling green, outdoor gym, tennis court, sports pavilion, children’s playground and two junior football pitches. Take a walk through the grounds, fit in some exercise or simply enjoy some fresh air before returning to work.
Having accessible green spaces nearby always makes it easier to build proper breaks into your routine.
3. History, Heritage and Autumnal Tours
As the evenings begin to draw in, discover some of Uxbridge’s history and heritage. The area has an interesting connection with the Second World War, and the Battle of Britain Bunker offers a range of tours and events throughout the autumn and winter.
For members who want to mark Remembrance season, the Remembrance Sunday Wreath Laying Ceremony takes place on the 8th November. On 11th November, the Uxbridge at War: A Walking Tour offers a different way to explore the area’s past. Starting at the Battle of Britain Bunker, the guided tour explores the area’s military history, includes a stop at Hillingdon Museum and Archives, and finishes at Uxbridge Station.
There are also indoor options, making it particularly well suited to those classic autumn days when the weather is less predictable. In Their Own Words, taking place on 12th December, uses first-hand testimonies to explore the human experience of the Battle of Britain, while the Festive Secrets Uncovered Tour on 19th December takes visitors through hidden rooms, underground corridors and rarely seen objects.
For our members, these events provide a perfect opportunity to learn more about the place where you work, discover a different side of Uxbridge and take part in local events beyond the usual working routine.
4. Member Eats
The season brings a wealth of culinary opportunities to the Adapt community. Regular community breakfasts offer a chance to start the day with a delicious breakfast while enabling members to catch up with colleagues and fellow members. At the end of October, a community lunch also offers opportunities for our members to take a proper break from work and enjoy lunch together at the Clubhouse. These events are great for those new to Adapt, work independently or run a smaller business.

5. Autumnal Socials
When the working day is over, Uxbridge town centre is around a 10-minute walk away, putting plenty of restaurants, pubs, cafés and bars within easy reach.
For a traditional pub atmosphere, the Swan & Bottle is a natural choice. Tuck into classic pub dishes and seasonal ingredients, with hearty options and delicious Sunday roasts. The historic Crown & Treaty also offers another distinctly autumnal setting, combining traditional interiors with a wide choice of food and drinks. Dating back to the 17th century, the pub also features private dining and function spaces, making it suitable for everything from a casual meal to a larger team get-together.
If you are looking for somewhere central and informal, The Good Yarn is another option, while for something more restaurant-focused, Nonna Rosa brings authentic Italian cooking to the heart of Uxbridge. However, for something livelier, Bar Italia brings together Italian food with a buzzing evening atmosphere.

Alternatively, for a quick lunch or early-evening bite, Ottimmo Bao Bao provides an Asian-inspired alternative, with bao, rice bowls, noodle soups and other Japanese and Asian dishes. It is particularly useful for members who want to venture into town alone or grab something casual with a colleague rather than committing to a longer dinner.
No matter the occasion, Uxbridge gives our members plenty of choice without needing to travel far.
Make the Most of Autumn
Throughout autumn, the working day does not have to solely begin and end at your desk. Our combination of flexible workspaces, community events, fitness facilities, green spaces and easy access to Uxbridge town centre gives our members plenty of ways to make the most of their working day.
For freelancers and solo workers, that might mean a coffee and a walk instead. For a small business, it could be meeting another local founder over breakfast or organising an after-work meal. For a growing SME, it could mean making use of the campus facilities and community to give your team more opportunities to connect.
If you are considering your next workspace, autumn is a great time to discover what Adapt and the wider ARC Uxbridge community have to offer!
